Panakes Partners Announces the hiring of Dr. Marco Sardina as Scientific Partner and Dr. Andrea Ballerini as Associate Milan, Italy - July 28, 2021

Panakes Partners SGR, a leading Venture Capital investor creating and building the next generation of innovative European Life Science companies, announced today that Dr. Marco Sardina has joined the team as Scientific Partner and Dr. Andrea Ballerini as Associate.

Marco is a physician by education and training, with a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology. He has over thirty years of diverse international experience, ranging from leading clinical research projects from Phase I to IV, R&D, Medical Affairs team, supporting Business Development and in/out licensing processes. Marco is a recognized expert in drug discovery & development with proven record of advancing projects from discovery to proof-of-concept in clinical stage and marketing approval in different fields. He was also Partner in a corporate venture company and most recently CSO in BiovelocITA, Italy’s leading Biotech focused accelerator. Marco is Scientific Advisory Board member of innovative startups, author of more than 140 scientific publications and four patents. He is Fellow of the International College of Angiology, member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine and of the New York Academy of Sciences.

Andrea is a medical doctor specialized in clinical pharmacology, with expertise in evaluating, selecting, and developing early-stage potential breakthrough therapies that could solve unmet medical needs. In addition, Andrea has spent time in the USA working on nanotech and medical devices, broadening his view on possible different therapeutic approaches beside using small molecules, biologics, and cell therapies. He worked for the last four years at BiovelocITA alongside Marco, managing the development of preclinical assets developed by Italian research institutions.
